Our 5 day Virunga Gorilla Trek gives you a chance to encounter the gorillas twice that is on your first and second time gorilla treks. There are eight gorilla families found in Virunga National Park and they can be seen anytime of the year.

Virunga National Park has 604 mountain gorillas of the 1004 that are left in the world. Even more exciting, it has half of all the biodiversity in sub-Saharan Africa. This includes a mix of both active and dormant volcanic mountains as formed over a million years back.

Day 1

Arrival in Kigali – Rwanda

Meet and greet by our smiling tour guide who will transfer you to your hotel. Upon arrival at the hotel, check-in and then have a brief safari briefing.

Day 2

Kigali to Virunga National Park – Congo

After morning breakfast, check out and bid farewell to Kigali. Transfer through Rwanda and Goma on to Virunga NP in Congo, arriving in the afternoon. Sit still enjoying the ambiance at the lodge or if desired, enjoy a nature walk.

Day 3

In Virunga National Park – Gorilla Trekking (first trek):

Gorilla trekking here is a charming experience. After the tour, you will always treasure the memory of that chemistry in the wilderness, with the biggest primate species in the world. It feels very fortunate to encounter them on the ground as opposed to watching them high in trees, silhouetted against the sky. It is a real national geographic moment in which anything can happen. You might watch a female in estrus shyly approach the silverback for mating. After an hour with the gorillas, you will hike back to the park's office where our driver guide will be waiting to take you to your lodge.

Day 4

In Virunga National Park – Gorilla Trekking (second trek):

Second time gorilla trekking!

Day 5

Virunga National Park to Kigali & Departure

Transfer to Kigali with drop off at the airport in time for your departure flight. If having a later departure in the night, enjoy a Kigali City Tour with a visit to the Genocide Memorial Museum at Gisozi.
