Overview

This 1 day Mabamba Swamp and Equator Experience excursion is a combination of swamp bird watching, visiting the Uganda Equator and a walk through the forest. It’s a perfect tour for those that may not have much time for a longer tour to see the famous and iconic shoebill stork in its natural habitat.

Itinerary

Day 1
Tansfer to Mabamba Swamp, Shoebill Search

At 06.00, meet and greet from your residence in Kampala for a transfer to Mabamba Bay. The birding experience at Mabamba is by use of a local canoe in search of the rather famous and iconic shoebill stork.

Other interesting bird species here include; African Jacana, Papyrus Gonolek, Pallid Harrier, White-winged Warbler, Blue Swallow etc. The overwhelming birding experience in Mabamba is not only at the swamp but along the way; there are also other birding spots.

Thereafter, transfer to the Uganda Equator point for a photo moment as well as watch a demonstration by a local entrepreneur on how water swirls in opposite directions in the northern & southern hemispheres at the equator line. T-shirt with words “I crossed the Uganda Equator” available!

You have a chance to buying typical handmade African crafts (on own account). A little relaxation after lunch and then transfer to Mpanga Forest for a forest walk. At 16.30hrs, take a leisurely ride back to Kampala with a drop off at your residence.
